Additional Voluntary Contributions

Top

You can increase your pension by paying Additional Voluntary Contributions. These are often referred to as AVCs.

We operate an in-house AVC scheme with Prudential. You decide how much you can afford to pay, up to a maximum of 50% of your earnings in each job where you pay into the LGPS. You can pay into AVCs by making contributions directly from your salary to the Prudential who invest the money for you.

The main advantage of investing in an in-house AVC is that the administration costs are a lot lower than a private arrangement. We have negotiated cheaper costs for Local Governmnet Pension Scheme members.

Find out more information about Prudential's group AVC plan.

Please note: If you are an existing contributor to an AVC fund with our previous in-house provider, Clerical Medical, you are able to continue with this arrangement. Please contact the benefits team on 01225 713613 if you have any queries relating to previous Clerical Medical AVCs.
