Transfers In and Out
Transfers In
You can request an investigation of the transfer in of any previous Occupational or Personal Pension Scheme. These can be classified into two types - club and non club. This will buy you extra service in the Local Governement Pension Scheme, which will count towards your pension benefits.
We need your written authority with all the details of your previous pension, signed and dated, before we can go ahead. Please note: If you choose to transfer previous pension rights you must give your written consent within 12 months of joining the Local Government Pension Scheme. After 12 months you can only do so if your employer agrees.
If you would like us to investigate a possible transfer of benefits from a previous pension, please complete a transfer form and return it to the Pension Team.
We will send all the information about the transfer to your home address, but it will not go ahead until we have your written consent.
Transfers Out
It is possible to transfer your Local Government Pensions Scheme service to your new employer or provider. You will need to ask your new employer or pension provider if they will accept a transfer and they will request details from us.
There are some points to consider if you would like to transfer your benefits.
