Early Retirement
You may be able to retire early if you have the permission of your employer. Each employer should have written a policy on the grounds that they will allow a scheme member to retire early.
You must be at least 55 (50 if you joined the Scheme before 1 April 2008) before you can ask for early payment of your benefits. From 2010, the minimum age will be 55 for all scheme members. However, this can be very expensive for your employer because they have to pay the cost to the Fund so you will need to check your employer's policy on early retirement.
