If you are already a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme, you should already be aware of the numerous benefits of the scheme.
If you are employed on a full time, part time or casual contract for more than 3 months you are automatically a member of the pension Scheme and you should receive a starter pack from your personnel department. within 3 months of joining.
If your contract is for 3 months or less you are not eligible to join the Scheme. However, if your contract is extended beyond 3 months you will become a member of the Scheme and can backdate contributions to the start of your contract if you choose.
